As a candidate for State Representative, I believe it is important for residents to have access to factual, balanced information about proposed developments in our communities. Data centers present both opportunities and challenges that deserve thoughtful discussion. Potential Benefits Supporters of data center development point to several potential advantages: * Significant investment in local communities * Increased property tax revenues * Construction and skilled trade jobs during development * Opportunities for local contractors and suppliers * Strengthening Pennsylvania's role in technology and innovation * Improvements to electrical and communications infrastructure Community Concerns Residents have also raised legitimate concerns that deserve careful consideration: * Increased demand on electrical infrastructure * Water usage requirements for cooling systems * Noise generated by cooling equipment and backup generators * Changes to the character and appearance of neighborhoods * Environmental impacts * Traffic during construction * Questions about the number of permanent local jobs created after construction is complete My Position I believe every proposed project should be evaluated on its own merits. Communities deserve transparency, accurate information, and a meaningful voice in the decision-making process. Before major projects move forward, residents should have clear answers to important questions: * What economic benefits will the community receive? * How much energy and water will the facility consume? * What measures will be taken to minimize noise and environmental impacts? * How will local infrastructure be affected? * What long-term benefits will remain for residents?
